Peter Kempton serves as Category Manager, Store for TravelCenters of America. He started with the company in 2009 as a Store Manager before moving into the Category Manager role in 2015. Peter manages the Center Store categories including Candy, Snacks, Grocery & HBC. In June 2020 under Peter’s leadership, TA became one of the first retailers to launch National Candy Month, an industry game changer, now celebrated by dozens of retailers nationwide. Peter was the recipient of the 2021 Confectionery Leadership Award presented by the National Confectioners Association.
Peter loves his job as a candy and snack Category Manager and working with his team and vendor partners to stay ahead of the curve in their categories. He was born in raised in the South Hills of Pittsburgh, PA before moving to Cleveland, OH in May 2015 to pursue the Category Manager career. Peter and his wife Katie have four children: Alexander, Abigail, Aiden and Amelia. Peter enjoys cheering for the Pittsburgh Penguins Hockey team during the winters and is also involved in the local youth Wrestling Program, which his youngest daughter participates in.
