Nestle Waters

Tom began his career at Nestle Waters North America in early 1996 developing a business model for the Convenience Store Channel. Small, single serve bottles of water were becoming a growth engine for Nestle Waters and the convenience store channel was an opportunity for immediate consumption. After developing a successful model and national accounts team, Tom was asked to start up the drug and office supply channels as well. In five years, the single serve footing was well established.

In 2001, Tom was promoted to General Manager of the West Region. It was during this time Nestle Waters saw rapid double digit growth in the bottle water category and production and supply were a premium. Nestle Waters was able to grow market share rapidly during this period all the while moving from a broker managed business to direct selling in the field. It was out west where Tom further developed his inspirational servant leadership style and built strong relationships with key retailers. Creating Direct to Store shipments and the development of a 24 bottle casepack as the vehicle sold to consumers were the keys to the growth of the west during this time.

Tom moved to HQ in Connecticut in 2005 and was promoted to Vice President, General Manager of Sales for the supermarket, drug and natural foods channels. In these businesses Tom and his team were responsible for growing the business to $1.2 billion in revenue by 2012. In this role Tom and his team were able to solidify NWNA as the leader in healthy refreshment beverages and persuaded strategic category decisions at top retailers. Since 2017, Tom has taken the role of Vice President of Strategic Partnerships which includes the Direct Store Delivery business with third party distributors.
Prior to joining Nestle Waters, Tom worked for General Mills Inc, Quaker Oats Gatorade Division and Gillette’s Braun Division.
Tom resides in East Norwalk, Connecticut with his wife Lisa. Tom and Lisa have a grown son, Brian Mayfield, daughter-in-law Nicole and two grandchildren Troy and Kelly. Tom is President of the Rex Griswold Foundation to Cure Multiple System Atrophy and supports multiple cancer charities including BCRF, and has a passion for golf, music and travel. He was born in Minneapolis MN and was raised in the Twin Cities and outside Chicago IL, and has a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University Of St. Thomas, St Paul MN.
