Justin Mitchell is currently the Vice President of IT at Refuel Operating Company.
Justin has spent his career in and around Retail Technology starting while working his college job from 6 pm to midnight, at Maverik. He never thought it could create such a learning opportunity with so much growth potential. From working as a store associate to becoming a store manager of three progressively higher volume locations before moving into the IT department. There he led store support of 300+ locations, eventually taking over all retail technology. During the nearly ten years at Maverik, Justin was part of the evolution from the local Country Stores to Adventures First Stop; helping to support his team, loyalty, payments, and positive customer interactions.
Justin took an opportunity to join a joint venture that brought the first mobile NFC wallets to the market. He worked with local, regional, and national chains to bring consumers' payment cards, loyalty cards, and coupons, all together in one place.
Prior to Refuel, Justin was the Director of IT Infrastructure and Operations for Sportsman’s Warehouse where he led the POS, store support, network, cloud and data center teams to be strategic partners with the business, most notable lead a project to integrate a new store-branded credit card with loyalty allowing for POS and mobile real time applications.
Justin earned his Master of Science degree from WGU in IT management, a Bachelor of Science in Information Technology from WGU, and an Associate of Science from Snow College.
